a trauma-informed communication and marketing consultancy

founded by Carly Shein-Lanning

I’m Carly Shein-Lanning,

a trauma-informed storyteller and founder of Voices Editorial, a trauma-informed communication and marketing consultancy supporting mission-driven organizations globally.

With more than 18 years of experience in trauma-informed storytelling, journalism, and editorial leadership, I partner with nonprofits and survivor-serving organizations to shape narratives, engage stakeholders, and share impact, all through a trauma-informed lens.

My work centers consent, transparency, and compassion — ensuring all storytelling projects build trusting relationships and safeguards those whose stories are being shared.

  • “Carly brings a rare blend of professional expertise, deep empathy, and innovation to every project. Her trauma-informed approach has helped us shape language that truly reflects and uplifts our mission. She centers the heart of our work while refining our messaging with clarity, care, and purpose. Carly doesn’t just edit — she partners, listens, and elevates. Our communications are stronger, more resonant, and more ethically grounded because of her. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”

  • “Carly was a dream to work with—proactive, communicative, and incredibly organized, even on a tight timeline. Her storytelling expertise helped us translate the complexity of sexual violence in NYC into an accessible, powerful white paper that furthers the Alliance’s mission to raise awareness and drive meaningful change. The final product has already proven to be a valuable tool for engaging stakeholders and guiding policy conversations.”

  • Working with Carly is a dream scenario: Not only is her writing and research consistently exemplary, but she also is lovely to communicate with every day. We've collaborated together for years diving deep on YouTube trends from both a research and data perspective. As soon as we started working with a new client that required a contextual and insightful understanding of video trends - long-form and short-form - related to major content verticals, I knew immediately who to contact. Since then, Carly has partnered with Polygraph to strengthen that relationship with proactive, stellar client communication and in-depth grasp of culture on the internet.
